Programme Description

For any Microfinance Bank to succeed in achieving its social mission, its operations must be sustainable to ensure its long term survival.re It is critical therefore that each Microfinance Bank management understands the components of sustainability and how each can would enable early detection of threats to the Bank’s sustainability and survival.


In order to maintain consistency in preparing and maintaining books of accounts, certain rules or principles have been evolved over several years of practice of accountancy. These rules and principles are classified as concepts and conventions. These are foundations of preparing and maintaining accounting records. There are generally agreed accounting principles which have been agreed by most nations in the world. Some also have their national accounting principles/standards to compliment. Through this course, a quick learning guide is provided to learn all about accounting concepts, conventions and principles.

Course Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will:

  • Be able conduct balance sheet analysis of Microfinance Banks.
  • Be able to assess and analysis the performance of trends in Microfinance Banks by using financial ratios.
  • Be able to compare the performance of Microfinance Banks within the banking and microfinance in Nigeria and internationally.
